Why Jesus came into the World?

"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." (1 Tim. 1:15)

Christmas is around the corner. I will attempt to beat the Christmas rush by looking at a fundamental Christmas question "why did the Lord Jesus Christ come into this world?" If I were to ask people I would most certainly find a variety of answers, some would be partly true, and others, sadly mistaken.

Some would say that He came to set up a new and better government. Others would say He came to teach us about God. Many believe that Jesus Christ is nothing more than a good teacher, a good man, a good rabbi. Still others would say that He came to demolish poverty and diseases. He was a great healer. Perhaps He was another prophet. He was a hero for His generation, His time, His day and age. Certainly many would say that He was a good example for us to follow.

The real and direct answer, according to the Bible is that “He came into the world to save sinners.” I am so thankful that God revealed this plain and simple answer to us in His Word. Had the answer been left to our own whim or philosophy, we may have come up with some pretty interesting responses, it may even sound impressive but it would not necessarily be true. Thankfully we read in God's Word, the Bible, truth. And the truth states it quite simply: “He came into the world to save sinners.”
