A Short Update - 07/08/26

Dear Praying Friends,

We praise and thank God for His mercies and help. After 17 hours of flight, we arrived safely in the Philippines. Marcia is now reunited with her birds, Joseph is re-discovering the weirdness of jet-lag (we all are doing that), William is excited to start a new chapter of life with a two-year goal of attending Bible College for his preparations to serve the Lord (He desires to attend Fairhaven Baptist College - praise God). I am catching up with everything, and more (life - right? What's new? nothing).

FIRST, Praise God for a wonderful sending church (Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Brogue, PA). The pastors and people of our sending church are a huge encouragement to us personally. They fit the Biblical model of sending church.

SECOND, Praise God for His provisions. We could not praise and thank God enough for providing for us a van, a couple of airplanes (loaded with a great flight crew), safety, health. A meaningful time of re-connecting with supporting churches (some we will certainly re-visit in two years since we were not able to get to them in four short months), families, and friends.

THIRD, Praise God for helpers. We have church workers and helpers who truly exhibit sacrificial service for us. Two good and godly men and their families have supplied our pulpit ministries (Sunday school and church services) for 17 weeks faithfully. A family took care of our house and pets in our absence. We are very blessed to have such wonderful, kind, hard working, and faithful helpers and ministry friends.

As we transition back to life in the Philippines, please pray that we can get through the jet-lag quickly and that we can set up to resume ministry work this week and weekend.

Thank you for your prayers - we don't take that for granted.

A Short Update - 06/06/26

Dear Praying Friends,

This past week (June 1-5), I was able to take part in a week long Seminary module under Dr. Thomas Strouse. He taught on the Minor Prophets 2. The gracious host was Dr. David Smith and Community Baptist Church in Coopersburg, PA. It was a blessing to be able to once again listen and take in copious notes and materials from Dr. Strouse (Pastor, Bible Baptist Church, Cromwell, CT and professor emeritus of Bible Baptist Theological Seminary).

Next week (June 8-12) the boys will get enjoy Youth Camp which is a ministry of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Brogue, PA - our sending church. Naturally, they are absolutely looking forward to spending a week with their friends, and enjoy lots of exciting activities. Most importantly, they will get to hear many good preaching and teaching from the Holy Bible. Marcia and I will be able to get away during the boys' camp week and so we are also excited for that up-coming week. PRAISE GOD!

Please pray for Heidi Butler (formerly Starr) - Marcia's sister. She has to undergo some serious surgery and we just ask that you would pray for her. For a successful procedure and a swift recovery for her.

A Short Update - 05/28/26

Dear Praying Friends,

We praise God for the safety and health that He has given us. The Lord enables us to travel and report to a number of our supporting churches in PA, MD, and DE.

1. We praise God for two new supporting churches. We praise God for this since we have lost three churches. We did not solicit their support but God put us in their hearts and all glory goes to God.

2. We praise God for spiritual growth in both of our missions work in Tuktukan, Taguig City (for new batch of visitors - they are returning, and are starting to attend all of the Sunday services - Sunday school, AM and PM services. One of them is now attending the Wed. Night Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. The missions work in Candelaria, Quezon Province purchased an electronic piano keyboard. They also conducted a two-day special Bible study time for children and teens on the topic of the doctrine of sin (Hamartiology). Pray for an effective follow up.

3. Pray for spiritual protection for our spiritual leaders and workers in these respective ministries.

4. Pray for souls to be saved and for true and good disciples to be made.

5. Pray for a meaningful time of fellowship and catching-up with our families and church friends. We desire to truly enjoy some "quality time" with them.

A Short Update - 04/13/26

Dear Praying Friends,

Praise God for His healing touch. After weeks of fighting the cold plus added sinus problems (I personally can't believe how many tissue boxes I have emptied - unbelievable) - I am finally done with it (for now). At least none of us got into any serious fevers and complications - God is good.

We are now in our second-phase of our mini-furlough (the first phase was the wedding - and it was a most beautiful occasion). This phase is a special combination of connecting with family and some of our supporting churches. This is mainly in Indiana and Ohio. Please pray for safety and provisions as we travel. God is good and our report to some of our churches has been met with such gladness as we get to rehearse to the brethren the many wonderful things that God has done in opening the hearts of our now church families in Tuktukan, Taguig City, Metro Manila and in Candelaria, Quezon province.

We finished a precious and wonderful Missions Conference at one of our supporting churches and we were refreshed to meet fellow missionaries, reacquaint ourselves to the church (our boys were 6 and 4 years old back when we were with them last time - now, of course, our boys are 15 and 13).

We are looking forward to being with family - getting to spend time with them and sharing our experiences and catching up with them will be such a blessing.

Do pray for our mission works for safety, provisions, health, and for God's blessings as they continue evangelism and discipleship without us.

BTW, my temporary mobile number is now located in the "About Us" tab. I still use the "old" number that you may have on record. That number is a voice over the internet type of a number. I will be keeping that - since - that's the number that I am sticking with. I just won't be able to reply so easily with it. My temporary mobile number is good only till early July since I am only using it during this short furlough.

A Short Update - 03/26/26

Dear Faithful Friends,

1. The Lord provided a van for us to use in our short furlough. Our sending church is allowing us to stay in their lovely guest room - "The Prophet's Chamber." Praise God for His provisions.

2. We have been in a couple of churches thus far, and we thank God for the love and warm reception of the churches. Their hospitality and kindness is greatly appreciated. Their partnership in prayers and finances are also appreciated.

3. We were sick (still some lingering coughs and congestions) but we are working our way out of this and onto wellness, Lord willing. Please pray for us to through this terrible cold virus or bacteria - whatever it is.

4. There is great joy in rehearsing what the Lord has done in and through us and as a faithful friend, you have a part in every aspect of our missions works (both in Tuktukan, Taguig City, and in the Candelaria Municipality in Quezon province - 65 miles south of Metro Manila).

5. Please pray for one of our precious and key helper in the Philippines, she is struggling health wise and could use some prayers. We trust in God and we praise and thank God that He invites us to let our requests be made known unto Him, only that it is coupled with thanksgiving.

A Short update - 03/20/26

Dear Praying Friends,

God is good and gave a smoother than normal flight back to the USA. After months of dealing with sinus problems and chest congestions, I think I am finally feeling better - but please continue to pray for wellness for Marcia and the boys (now they have it). We are all working through our jet-lag and God is good to give us spurts of energy and a lovely and beautiful place to rest. Brogue, PA is a beautiful farm country with the most spectacular views of them "rolling hills." I was able to share a report to Mt. Zion Baptist Church (our sending church) this past Wed. night mid-week service meeting. And now we are preparing to honor two godly young people who kept themselves pure for each other and for the Lord. Alyssa Starr and Seth Golden are to celebrate their wedding day on Saturday, March 21 and we are so honored to have a part in it. God is good! Marcia has reconnected with her Mom and Dad, and Brother, and now she is with her Sister (Heidi) and they are painting the town red, ha!

1. Please pray for the two missions work back in the Philippines (Tuktukan and Candelaria).

2. Please pray for the Lord to raise up a couple more husband and wife teams, and male leadership for sure.

3. Please pray for the missions workers for spiritual strength and victory in their lives against the wiles of the Devil.

4. Pray for us to be able to be effective witnesses for the Lord during our short furlough (we will be returning back to the Philippines in early July, Lord willing).

It is so good to see family and friends again. It is so good to be able to report back to some of our supporting churches. May the Lord use us to see souls saved and disciples strengthened to trust the Lord and obey His words!

Up-coming Candelaria, Quezon Province Ministry Opportunity

Dear Praying Friends,

Please pray for us this Saturday, Feb. 28 as we make our way back to Candelaria municipality in Quezon province (65 miles south of Taguig City) for a Bible study on the topic of Ecclesiology (the doctrine of the Church). My prayer is for souls to get saved and for disciples to receive by faith God's plan of establishing and edifying a Biblical Baptist church in that precious town. Both seniors, adults, and older teens will be present to listen and to participate. Many are not yet saved, but they are willing to listen. May God grant us His grace and power to become effective and clear witnesses of the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It was an absolute joy to be able to give gift bags with food and treats to 75 of our precious Sunday school children. On this Sunday, Dec. 21, we took time to explain to the children the real meaning of Christmas. The Christmas songs, and lessons were a great reminder of why we should be thankful to God for the very first Christmas Day, when the Word (Jesus Christ) was made flesh. Jesus was born to die, so that we may be saved freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus!

Happy Thanksgiving Day 2025

 Dear Praying Friends,

We had a wonderful and precious mid-week service this past Wednesday (last night) - it was our "Thanksgiving Service." First of all, the food was amazing - we proved that we were indeed, tried, true, good and proven Baptists. AMEN! HA! Second, the testimonies were filled with thanksgiving to God for salvation and church family. Third, our guest speaker was Bro. Mark Ratac (accompanied by his precious wife, Sis. Jemima). Preacher Ratac pastors "All Truth Baptist Church" in Dasmariñas, Cavite. He spoke from 1 Thess. 5:18 and our people were edified in the words of God and reminded of that precious truth that in everything we are to give thanks to God. Please pray that a couple of new visitors would return and get saved and baptized and added to the church. Fourth, we were also joined by Bro. Kenneth and Sis. Sherie, our precious friends and co-workers from Candelaria, Quezon province. What a special night it was and we praise and thank God for His amazing and always abounding grace!

A Short November update (11/21/25)

Dear Praying Friends,

My Mom went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 15 of this year. Though we are sad and grieve, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. She trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation a few years back. Praise God for His amazing grace! Thank the Lord for His great sacrifice on the cross and for His empty tomb. Please pray for wisdom and strength as we navigate through a host of things regarding mom's properties, etc. Pray also for family and friends to come to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour.

Today, Marcia and the boys and I were able to get our latest family photos. Many of our supporting churches request an updated family photo, so, please feel free to email me a request for that, and I will be glad to get one to you upon request.

We have a couple of important meetings ahead. FIRST, our Thanksgiving Service on Wed. night, Nov. 26. We invited Preacher Mark Ratac and his wife, Sis. Jemima to come and preach and teach God's word to our people and their family, friends, and invited guests. We always enjoy an evening of eating, playing, and preaching. AMEN! SECOND, I have a special day of Bible education session at a church a few miles away. I will be teaching on The Fall of Man (Gen. 3). Please pray for God's words to be presented clearly and with Holy Spirit power. Please pray for hearts to be opened up and for those who are not saved to get saved, and for those who are saved to grow in the Lord. THIRD, We have an up-coming Lord's Supper with special training for Bro. Kenneth. He is a faithful man (along with his wife, Sis. Sherie) and I am training him to administer the Lord's Supper - so he gets to do it and I get to serve in it. Praise God for faithful men who shall be able to teach others also. PRAISE GOD! FOURTH, We have a special speaker for the first Sunday in December - Dr. Jed Raquintan. He is a faithful pastor and seminary director based out of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Quezon City. We can't wait to hear what the Lord has laid on his heart to preach and teach to us on that special Sunday.

Well, God is good and we thank God for His amazing grace. Thank you, dear praying friends for your love, prayers, and support. We thank the Lord for counting us faithful and putting us into the ministry!

A Short October update

 Dear Friends,

1. Greetings to all. I trust that you all are serving the Lord with joy and thanksgiving. Let us remember that we can do all thing through Christ which strengthens us! AMEN!

2. We had a wonderful gathering of faithful children Sunday school attenders (even a few "perfect" attenders, meaning, zero absences for the past three months) - congratulations to those kiddos!

3. Since we have noticed a lot of rainy weekends, we decided to redeem the time with an after church video course on Bible Geography. Many stay after the services and enjoy seeing "the Holy Land" and getting more familiar with the Holy Bible and its contents relative to earth's most important real estate.

4. Preparations are being made now for a fun Christmas season with our Tuktukan Sunday school classes. The ladies have shopped and gathered some wonderful gifts to giveaway for the children.

5. We finished the book of Zechariah (thanks to the labors and teaching and preaching of Bro. RJay). We are working through the book of Romans in our afternoon service, 1 Samuel in our Adult Sunday school class, General Epistles in our Teen Sunday school. AND we just finished the Song of Solomon and are now on Ecclesiastes in our Mid-week service and prayer meeting.

6. Grace Baptist Church, Oxford, PA (Pastor Combs) gave a special offering which enabled us to purchase 50 beautiful English KJBs to give to our friends, and visitors. AMEN! Jehovah-Jireh!

7. Do pray for my Mom as she is suffering from her chronic kidney disease. She is in good spirits generally speaking, but could use your prayers. I would appreciate that, too.

8. Pray for safety. The Philippines has been rattled with some strong earthquakes. Flooded with lots of water from many recently revealed ghost flood control projects (that never even happened), and now there is distrust and anger from the people. Natural disasters and social unrest are just not good. BUT we all know that JESUS is still the answer - and we will trust in God and obey His words!

July-August Updates

 Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you for taking interest in our happenings and ministries. If you would like to receive or be a part of our regular, normal, correspondence via email, just send me a message and I can add you to our monthly news and prayer letter.

Here are some news and prayer updates in bullet format:

1. Please pray for a retired lady who has shown interest in attending our church services and even open to having a Bible study. Her name is Wilma.

2. Please pray for our public school guidance counselor (Ms. Sharon) - she suffered a stroke, and is in the hospital and still has not woken up from her comma. She was supposed to recommend to the Principal that we may host a Bible club in the public school. Pray that she would snap out of her comates state and that she would recover. ALSO pray that the Lord would open the door to host a Bible club in the public school.

3. Please pray for fruit in our gospel tracts distribution and also our Monday Jailhouse ministry.

4. Pray for our up-coming afternoon special Youth Service at 1PM, this Sunday, Aug. 31. We are excited to see how our young people will serve the Lord and His people, as they will take over the afternoon service.

5. Pray for the Adult Bible study and Children's Bible club at Candelaria, Quezon Province. Pray for souls to get saved and for believers to be edified. We are praying that a solid, Biblical, Baptist church may be started and established to the glory of God, and for His great commission in Candelaria to be accomplished. Pray for the two families from our church that labor for the Lord to see a church planted in the municipality.

6. Pray for our guests, and returnees. We praise the Lord for those who visit. We pray that they would get saved and follow the Lord's will for believers in becoming true and good disciples.

7. Finally, do pray for Marcia and the boys, they have started the Homeschool Year 25-26! ALSO pray for a new installment of lectures for our Baptist Institute (An Intro to Biblical Languages). I am also one page away from finishing the first draft of my 200 page thesis for a Doctorate of Ministry degree. So praise God from whom all blessings flow. AND May JESUS CHRIST be praised!

The photo above was taken by Sis. Tess as we were conducting a Bible study at Sis. Ruth's house in a village outside of Taguig City (this is in District 183 in Pasay City). There were at least 11 visitors besides our team. We are praying that the word of God would be understood, and that the Holy Spirit would convict hearts and that many would turn to the Lord and trust in Him as their personal Saviour. A tremendous blessing is that they would like to have us back in July - AMEN!

A couple of other blessings to share:

1. The Candelaria church planting ministry is now moved to a Sat. The missions team is made up of two precious families. They are holding a children's Bible Club in the morning, and an evangelistic Bible study in afternoon. Please pray for spiritual fruit. We desire to see a Biblical, Baptist church established in this municipality (Candelaria is a municipality in the Quezon Province region - about 65 miles south of our Tuktukan, Taguig City immersionist assembly).

2. A public school in Ususan village (right next door to Tuktukan) may allow us to have a Bible club. This would be a wonderful blessing and great door of opportunity opened to us by the Lord.

Thank you for your prayers. Please pray for God's strength and power and for souls to be saved, and for the saved to became true and good disciples of the Lord Jesus.

 What a blessing to share a testimony in song today and to offer our voices in praise to God for His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ who took our sins upon Him on the cross - "not in part, but the whole." AND "I bear it no more - praise the Lord, oh my soul!" Then, the message of the song looks forward to the day when "the faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll, the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, "Even so" it is well with my soul." Just a well done choral piece by Ms. Potter. BUT to God be glory, He surely is worthy of our praise!

The song is "It is Well" written back in 1873, by Horatio Spafford and put to the classic hymn format we now love and sing (music by Philip P. Bliss in 1876). This song is now public domain.

The arrangement we sang was produced by Ms. Julie Jones Potter, published by the Bill Rice Ranch Music for SATB, 2002.

VBS and a short update

Dear Faithful Friends,

God is good! We wrapped up our VBS this summer with two classes (girls and boys). The girls learned more about the Armor of God (as that was their theme) and the boys learned about Creation (vs. Evolution - as this was there theme). Additionally, the Candelaria, Quezon province VBS turned out really well, and now they are converting their VBS into an an ongoing Saturday Children's Bible Club. There's about three or four adults and a number of children who are interested in joining us for an evangelistic Bible study. Also, this Monday (June 02) is an important meeting with another family that may potentially be part of the start of having a regular Sunday church services. God is putting together the true potential of planting an Independent Baptist Biblicist church in Candelaria soon. Please continue to pray for spiritual fruitfulness and growth in both the Tuktukan, Taguig City church plant and the Candelaria, Quezon province church plant. May Jesus Christ be praised!
